Wines which respect the environment
The Tianna Negre Wine Estate in Binissalem is the Morey-Garau family and Antonio Nadal SA's (Tunel Distillery) latest project. The family has always owned a vineyard which is more than 25 years old and over the years they decided to bring it back to life. The idea grew and grew until it became a reality in 2007 in the form of Tianna Negre.
The wine estate in itself is a true mixture between functionality and design. The project was carried out by 'Morlá i Morey Architects' from Binissalem and they have created a building which is both powerful and spectacular without disrupting the natural scenery of the surroundings. One of the features of this wine estate which is perhaps the most surprising is the care which has been taken to ensure the functionality and design of the buildings and the respect shown to the environment throughout. Solar energy is used and there is also a system for recycling water in place. This is a wine estate which has a logical system of daily functioning and which uses the latest resources available.
The wine estate has some 10 hectares of vineyard within which the red varietals Manto Negro, Callet, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grow in harmony with white varietals Prensal and Moscatel de Frontignon. From the grape varieties the estate produces wines under the names of Randemar and Ses Nines. Ses Nines which is a semi crianza with a modern profile, is without a doubt, the more well known of the two and recently a white and rose have been added to the range.
The Morey-Garau country estate also has an extensive olive grove of the arbequina variety and makes an extra virgin olive oil with 'Oli de Mallorca' designation of origin. The olive oil has the same name as the wine estate 'Tianna Negre'.
