Cuisine • Mallorcan Description Son Bascos, meaning 'warm, friendly place', is the name of the restaurant and of the area in which it is located. In the old days, the 'finca' of Son Bascos was where family and friends would meet for a hearty meal after hunting. Later, the quail farm was created along with the restaurant which expanded quickly as word of mouth spread. The only restaurant on the island which serves predominantly grilled quail, Son Bascos is hugely popular with the locals and tourists alike. The decor is simple, the menu small, but the meals are tasty and very reasonably priced and there is always a buzz in the place. If you like quail, you will love Son Bascos, (and if you've never tried it, you'll surely be pleasantly surprised). A visit to Son Bascos will make the trip out to picturesque Montuiri, located in the middle of the island, even more worthwhile for the whole family!
Directions Take the new motorway from Palma to Montuiri. At the Montuiri circle take the first exit right (Randa), turn immediately left and follow the service road that runs parallel to the motorway. There are signs to Son Bascos. The Farmhouse is about 1.5 km from the circle. Average Price Per person (up to 3 quails) €18 (including wine) Specialty Own farm-raised fresh quail meat and eggs.
