Cuisine • Mallorcan • Market Description All that remains of the original building of Sa Farinera in S'Horta, which was used as shelter for livestock, is the well in the patio. A century ago, Don Macia Adrover built some flour mills here, hence the origin of the name Sa Farinera (flour mill). There were also saw mills and coal silos in order to fuel the machinery, and a shop selling food stuffs.
It was all destroyed in a ferocious fire about 70 years ago, and then re-built as the 'Sa Farinera de S'Horta' so many residents and visitors to the island frequent today for hearty Mallorcan cuisine. The restaurant is still run by the Adrover family, who expertly serve up traditional (and newly created!) delights from the Mallorcan kitchen. It is wise to book in advance, especially in summer and at the week-end.
