Restaurantes Mallorca con Estrella Michelin

Las estrellas Michelin son un reconocimiento de la Guía Roja de Michelín, la guía europea de hoteles y restaurantes más antigua y conocida. La guía fue creada en 1900 por el francés André Michelin y la primera edición era una guía de Francia con consejos de cómo viajar en coche por el país y donde pararse para descansar o disfrutar de una agradable comida. Ahora se publican guías anualmente para los siguientes países y ciudades; Francia, Austria, Italia, Alemania, Suiza, España/Portugal, Holanda/Bélgica y Luxemburgo, Reino Unido/Irlanda, Nueva York, San Francisco, Tokio, Los Angeles y Las Vegas.

La guía galardona una, dos o tres estrellas a un número muy limitado de restaurantes que considera de calidad superior. Una estrella indica 'un muy buen restaurante de su categoría', dos estrellas indican un restaurante 'con cocina excelente, y merecedor de un cambio de ruta' y tres estrellas indican un restaurante 'con cocina excepcional, merecedor de una visita especial'.

Actualmente hay cinco restaurantes en Mallorca que han sido galardonados con estrellas Michelin. Restaurante Tristán en Puerto Portals y su Chef Gerhard Schwaiger tiene dos estrellas Michelin; Restaurante Bacchus en el Hotel Read's tiene una estrella Michelin; Restaurante Es Racó des Teix y su Chef Josef Sauerschell tiene una estrella Michelin; Restaurante Es Moli d'en Bou y su Chef Tomeu Caldentey tiene una estrella Michelin; y el Restaurante Plat d'Or en el Sheraton Mallorca - Arabella Golf Hotel en Son Vida y su Chef Rafael Sánchez tiene una estrella Michelin.

Las estrellas Michelin se han convertido en un reconocimiento muy prestigioso para cualquier restaurante y su Jefe de Cocina. Es todo un logro que la isla de Mallorca tenga cinco restaurantes con este galardón y es un gran complemento a la cocina mallorquina, a sus cocineros y a sus restaurantes.

Mallorca Restaurants with Michelin Stars

Michelin Stars are awarded by the Michelin Red Guide, the oldest and most well known European hotel and restaurant guide book. The guide was first started by André Michelin in 1900 and the first edition was a guide to France, with advice about travelling by car and on how to find good places to stay and have a meal while on route. The guides are now published annually and there is one published for France, Austria, Spain/Portugal, Netherlands/Belgium and Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Uk/Ireland, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.  

The guide awards one to three stars to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality. Stars are awarded sparingly. One star indicates 'a very good restaurant in its category', two stars indicate a restaurant with 'excellent cooking, worth a detour', and three stars indicate a restaurant with 'exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey'.

There are five Majorca Restaurants with Michelin Stars. Tristan Restaurant in Puerto Portals and Bacchus Restaurant at Read's Hotel has one Michelin star, Es Raco des Teix Restaurant in Deia and Chef Josef Sauerschell has one Michelin star, Es Moli den Bou Restaurant and Chef Tomeu Caldentey has one Michelin star, and Plat d'Or Restaurant in the Sheraton Mallorca - Arabella Golf Hotel in Son Vida and Chef Rafael Sanchez has one Michelin star.

The Michelin Star rating has become a very prestigious award for any restaurant and its Chef, and the guide has been known to take away a star if a restaurant falls in quality for some reason. For the island of  Mallorca to have five restaurants with Michelin stars is quite an achievement and a great complement to Mallorcan cuisine, its chefs and its restaurants.
