Cafe Sarao is located on Calle Costa I Llobera just off the main road of Av d'Alexandre Rossello in the northeastern area of central Palma de Mallorca. Cafe Sarao is owned and operated by Nicolas, or ‘Nico' as he is known to his regular customers.
Away from the tourist areas such as those around Palma harbor, food and drink prices can generally be a lot lower. Cafe Sarao is a fine example of this with prices being very competitive on both food and drink.
Nico serves drinks and prepares a tasty range of food from small tapas dishes to large, juicy burgers made from 100% beef. Importantly, most of the meats and cheeses offered at Cafe Sarao are Mallorcan produced and not available in supermarkets. Produced often by small, traditional family concerns. Drinks, including beer, wine and spirits, are often accompanied by small dishes of olives, tapas tasters or savoury nibbles and always given for free!
Cafe Sarao has seating both inside and just outside on the street. Customers often gather to eat, drink and chat, the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Inside the cafe there is comfortable seating plus large screen tv's that are usually playing music videos.
There is a beautiful chess set that takes a prime position in Cafe Sarao where the locals often challenge each other to a friendly game or two. Even Nico is open to a game of chess, when he has the time of course which is when the cafe is getting quieter later in the evening.
If you are staying in Palma then Cafe Sarao is well worth a visit, you can eat and drink and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of a small and popular cafe bar without damaging your wallet.
