Description
The personality with the big welcoming smile at Basmati is Shahin Awal, also the restaurant's owner and chef. He is the one behind all the wonderfully creative flavours of the set menu, which includes a variety of changing Indian delicacies (his Pashawar Nan Bread with fruits and nuts is to die for). The dishes are very tasty and mild, but if you want them hot, there are sauces available - no need to worry, though, as Shahin will advise you beforehand in his personable and friendly manner, which ones are hot and which ones are not! 

Shahin has been cooking for nearly 20 years and all of his ideas are based on the different cuisines of India as he prefers to offer a wide variety of Indian cooking styles. Enjoy all of this in a cozy and authentic atmosphere with many surprising Indian antiques. This is a family business which he runs with his brothers, Shamim, Munir, Rashed and Alamin who also help attend to your every need, making any time you visit Basmati a truly special dining experience.

Basmati is located in Los Geranios shopping centre with two entrances opposite the Plaza Olivar Market, as well as another two in Calle San Miguel, opposite Cappuccino's. Near Plaza España.

Authentic Indian home cooking. *Dishes include vegetarian options* Shahin uses his own family recipes with spices and dried fruits, and has created a variety of exquisite breads and desserts.  
 
Menu of the Day from Monday to Saturday €15 per person (includes vegetable starter, 2nd course to choose from various options, 3rd course to choose from various stews (curries). The menu includes wine, water, tea/coffee and VAT.

Tasting Menu from Monday to Friday €20 per person (a scaled-down version of the regular set menu, and includes wine, water, dessert, coffee and VAT)

Samples from the menu
3 courses and dessert, set menu for €28.50 includes Wine, Water and Tea/Coffee and VAT. There is a whole set menu as a vegetarian option. The Set Menu changes every day according to what's available at the market, but consists usually of the following:

First course - 2 vegetable starters (of the season); Second course - meat or fish dish on a hot plate; Third course - Basmati rice with 4 stews 'curries' (mild and tasty) with 3 meats, 1 vegetable dish and Shahin's own delicious Pashawar Nan bread made with dried fruits, honey, coconut and almonds; Desserts (always varies) - 'Gulap Jamun' (similar to cheese cake); carrot, banana or fig cake

Please let Shahin know if you have any dietary requirements in advance, so he can provide other options.
 
Other facilities
2 dining rooms; one upstairs and one downstairs. Shahin also offers private orders for a minimum of 20 people. Please place your order at least 7 days in advance. There are various dishes to choose from.
