Wines with a personal identity
This wine estate in Petra, Mallorca will be 100 years old in 2012 and is proud not only of its age but also of its family tradition. Pilar Oliver, the current enologist, is the fourth generation of this winemaking family. The winery has been producing wines to sell to the public since it opened in 1912 under the direction of Melchor Oliver. Pilar discovered her passion for wine while studying at the enology university in Tarragona and she has not looked back since! She is always working and investigating in order to be able to create wines which are more and more exceptional at her family estate. Together with her husband she is constantly looking to try new ideas and produce wines which are innovative and daring, and this maintains a very excited audience.
Each Miquel Oliver wine is launched to the market with its own distinct identity, its own style and characteristics. The enologists firmly believe in the personal identity of each wine; each one is different and deserves its own publicity campaign and its own original label, Aia, Xperiment, and Ses Ferritges are clear examples of this philosophy. Miquel Oliver wines have been awarded repeatedly for their quality, some of the prizes they have received are the 'Peñín' Guide, The Gold Guide for Spanish Wines and the Yearly Award from El Pais.
The Miquel Oliver Wine Estate was the first in Mallorca to use modern technology by including stainless steel tanks and cold stabilization equipment to improve the fermentation processes of their wines and continues to experiment and innovate both in the vineyards and in the cellar. This winery lends great importance to maintaining direct contact with its consumers. For Pilar and her family it is very important to maintain communication with the consumers and if you visit the winery you will be able to meet the people who, through their hard work and enthusiasm, share a passion for life through every wine they make.
